Daniele Bonera has hailed the efforts of his Milan teammates in the crucial 0-0 Champions League draw with Ajax.
The Rossoneri reached the last 16 of the competition last night, but it was complicated by Riccardo Montolivo’s first half dismissal.
“We knew that it was going to be a difficult game as Ajax play a dynamic brand of football,” the stopper noted.
“They had already caused us some problems when it was 11 against 11.
“Then, when we were down to 10 men, it got even tougher for us, it was hard to attack and everyone had to make sacrifices.”
Milan were the only Italian side to progress in the competition on Wednesday following the exits of Juventus and Napoli.
“We’re proud to be the only Italians to have qualified,” he added. “But now we have two tough games against Roma and Inter coming up, but morale is good.”
