Francesco Guidolin said Udinese’s 2-1 win away to Livorno was “the most important victory. I am in love with my players.”
The Friulani had been under pressure with one point from three games, but earned only their second away win of the season.
“I am tense despite the victory, as that is just my personality,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.
“We played very well in a difficult arena. We played with temperament and forced Livorno to only be dangerous on the counter-attack, which says a lot about the game.
“I am happy, even if we could’ve avoided some naive errors. This was the most important victory we earned this year. I am in love with my players.”
Guidolin made some surprising choices for his starting XI, picking Nico Lopez and giving 19-year-old Brazilian Douglas his Serie A debut.
“Nico Lopez has extraordinary talent, but still has the physique of a child, so he needs to mature and get stronger. Every now and then he forgets what role he’s meant to be doing, but you need patience with young players.
“Douglas had the right hunger and deserved a starting shirt.”
