Cagliari Coach Diego Lopez said the draw with Napoli “is worth the same as a victory for us.”
The Sardinians had taken the lead through Nene, but were pegged back to 1-1 by a Gonzalo Higuain penalty for Davide Astori’s foul on Goran Pandev.
“Yes, it was a clear penalty. The players had told me as much,” said Lopez when watching the replays.
“We played well with a lot of hard work all over the field, so this point is worth the same as a victory for us.
“It was a very complicated match on paper, but we gave our all and the point is the reward for that hard work.
“The team is in good shape and improving game after game, getting important results. We still need to improve, especially on the counter-attack when tonight we wasted several opportunities. You can’t waste those against big teams like Napoli.”
