Inter President Massimo Moratti was called to testify in today's Calciopoli investigation. “I maintain the 2006 Scudetto was fully deserved.”
The 2006 trial stripped Juventus of two titles, handing the 2005-06 edition to Inter by default.
Juve are preparing legal action to have them restored after a second Calciopoli trial, this time in the civil courts in Naples, presented evidence the Nerazzurri also called referees and designators.
“I am not tired of the 2006 Scudetto controversy and I maintain the title was fully deserved,” noted Moratti.
“I was not remotely worried before this meeting, nor do I feel that Scudetto is any less precious.”
The Inter President spent three hours in a meeting with public prosecutors today discussing the new evidence in the Calciopoli case.
He had upset some by declaring initially that involving him based on this new information was “ridiculous.”
“I did apologise for that statement, but the situation remains Kafkaesque. We'll see how things go from here to the end of the affair.”
