Coach Rudi Garcia says his Roma side are only concentrating on their match with Livorno in Serie A and not on their clash with Juventus three days later.
Roma face Livorno this Saturday evening in the League, but much to their Coach’s lament, a lot talk has focused on next weeks’ Coppa Italia clash with the Old Lady.
“I am just concentrating on Livorno, but, unfortunately I have read very little about tomorrow’s game today,” Garcia said at today’s Press Conference.
“I am only focused on the Serie A, Juve we can think about after. My job is to keep my players focused on the task at hand as there are three important points to win.
“We must play like we did against Genoa [who Roma beat 4-0 last Sunday] because we will win only if we are 100 per cent focused.”
Under the Frenchman who took over Roma in the summer, the capital side have surpassed expectations to be a serious title contender this season. Yet, the former Lille boss believes they can still improve.
“We can always improve, we are halfway through the season and there is still work do be done. But, I am satisfied with the first part,” he continued.
“We have to do at least the same during the second half of the season. But I am not looking too far ahead.”
Garcia also spoke the transfer market and the rumours surrounding defender Nicolas Burdisso, who apparently wants to leave.
“Burdisso is a great professional and there is nothing more to say. He may play tomorrow, Tuesday or the following Saturday.
“It is normal that a player tries to find the best solution for himself, but I am the Coach and I have to think about the team.
“We spoke with Sabatini on all things to do with the market and I asked him to let us play these three games in the next eight days and then we might discuss the transfer market if need be.”
With that run of fixtures, Garcia did admit that he was concerned whether he has the players to cope, but insists he will not be resting anyone.
“There will be no calculations, not for tomorrow. It is not a problem to play tomorrow, then Tuesday, but, it is a problem to play the third game.
“But, from the second to third games, there will be five days, which is almost a week. For me, we do not have three in a row, but tow, for this there will not be a problem and I do not need to make a special calculation for tomorrow.”
