Massimiliano Allegri trusts Ronaldinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to “make the difference” in the derby. “Milan win by playing good football.”
The Rossoneri had the double blow just days before the clash of losing Alexandre Pato for six weeks and Pippo Inzaghi for six months, while Andrea Pirlo remains a doubt due to a calf strain.
“Even without injuries, Ibra is still very important for Milan and proved that with his performances and assists as well as goals,” said the Coach.
“I am sure he'll receive a warm welcome from the Inter fans. He has more responsibility now, as he is the only centre-forward we have. His role does not change, as we will continue to play with two strikers.”
However, it is likely Ronaldinho will replace Robinho as the support forward, leaving Clarence Seedorf in the trequartista position. The former Barcelona star has been dropped for the last two games.
“Ronaldinho can play as a striker. I have three forwards and during the game they will be used. The important thing is that he's training well and will be ready to play a great game. Dinho is capable of making the difference.”
Milan go into the derby as favourites thanks to their leadership status, as Inter have picked up two points from as many games against Brescia and Lecce.
“We will take on an angry Inter side, but even if we are top of the table, we have to remain calm and careful. It is not a decisive game,” insisted Allegri.
“It is the first derby of my career. We are growing and top spot helps improve our self-esteem. I do not agree that Jose Mourinho's Inter was more ‘frightening' for opponents, as they are different teams with Coaches who have different approaches to football.”
Marco Materazzi could start for Inter, suggesting they are focusing on grit and determination for the derby.
“We must play with intensity, but without getting tense. We are not a side who build our games on tension, as we try to win playing good football. I'm confident tomorrow Materazzi will play in a fair way.”
