Roma defender Philippe Mexes underwent surgery on his knee this morning at a clinic in the capital.
The France international tore his anterior cruciate ligaments against Juventus on Sunday.
Mexes was consulted by Professor Pierpaolo Mariani at the Villa Stuart clinic.
Mariani is an expert in this field and has operated on the likes of Francesco Totti and Alessandro Nesta.
Mexes' condition will be monitored over the next 72 hours.
He will then start rehabilitation at Trigoria and is expected to be back in five to six months.
