Marcello Lippi revealed he won’t stay more than another year at Guangzhou Evergrande, as “I’d like a national team, maybe China.”
The World Cup winning former Italy Coach secured the Chinese League title, the Asian Champions League and a place in the Club World Cup.
“I have another year on my contract as Coach of the club. In all honesty, I don’t think that I will renew it,” Lippi told Fox Sports Italia.
“I certainly won’t sit around doing nothing. I’d like a national team, maybe even China, why not?
“I had been close to several English clubs, most recently Tottenham three or four years ago. I always said no because I didn’t speak the language, then I ended up in China...”
He is keeping a close eye on Italy’s World Cup chances and the success of his former club Juventus.
“Would I bring Francesco Totti to Brazil? It’s difficult to say now, as you’d have to be in that situation.
“I hope Giuseppe Rossi can return a month before the tournament, as he only needs two or three matches to be ready. He has experience, the right attitude for this competition and can truly be the winning card alongside Mario Balotelli.
“As for Juve, Antonio Conte is achieving exceptional results and crowning his dream of being Juventus Coach. When I read he could leave Turin, I remember the love he has for this club and I doubt he’ll leave before achieving something important in Europe too.
“Roma give off a great image of unity, as when they score everyone leaps to their feet. They impress in every aspect, whether technical, tactical, organisational or psychological.”
Milan have a new Coach at the helm, as Clarence Seedorf abandoned his playing career five months early to take the job.
“Clarence was my player at Inter,” continued Lippi. “He had such a lot of experience as a player, winning the Champions League four times. He had already been chosen to take over next year, so it was natural he’d replace Massimiliano Allegri. I like that Seedorf started by firmly focusing on four attacking players.”
