New Inter signing Hernanes has said that he will look to fellow Brazilian Ronaldo as a source of inspiration as he begins life at the San Siro.
The 28-year-old made the move to Milan from Lazio and is the Nerazzurri’s most high-profile acquisition this winter.
“Are there any former Inter champions who inspire me? Ronaldo, one of the greats in history,” Hernanes said at today’s official unveiling.
“I also look to Alvaro Recoba and also Mancini, who did great things here.
“I am very happy to be part of this club. It is the only one to have never been relegated to Serie B and that shows it is a club that knows how to get results.
“I like the fact that the club has also never been embroiled in any of the scandals.
“This is a very important moment in my career and life, after three-and-a-half years at a big club like Lazio, where I have achieved good things.
“But, now I am at Inter, who made me a great offer, the opportunity to grow. There were many clubs that really wanted me, but I am happy to be here, this will be a big step in my career.
“Thank you to Lazio and Inter for the confidence in my work and in me.”
The player was also convinced in his new club’s chances of tasting success, despite their recent poor form and season to date.
“I’m convinced we can be successful. I have seen the great quality in this group and I am happy with my choice.
“We have a great Coach who played a big role in my decision to come here. With Mazzarri I can grow a lot as a player.
“It will take time but on our day we can beat anyone.”
