The Derby della Mole sets another Antonio Conte record, Antonio Di Natale matches Gabriel Batistuta and Stefan Radu doubles up in Susy Campanale's stats.
Juventus earned a 13th consecutive home victory, a new club record. In Serie A history they match the run of Milan in 1947-48 and are one shy of Torino’s all-time best of 14 in 1975-76. Winning 21 of the opening 25 rounds also matches the record set by Juve in 2005-06 and Inter in 2006-07.
Carlos Tevez catches Giuseppe Rossi in the Capocannoniere charts with his 14th of the campaign. He’s also the top scoring Juventus player in Serie A since Alessandro Del Piero had 21 and David Trezeguet 20 in 2007-08.
Torino haven’t won the ‘away’ derby since Ruggiero Rizzitelli’s brace in a 2-1 victory in 1995, followed by two draws and six defeats. The Granata’s last goal in a Derby della Mole fixture was in 2002, firing blanks for 15 hours of football against their rivals. In those 10 derbies, they conceded 16 without reply. It’s also the first time Toro failed to score on their travels since a 2-0 at Napoli on October 27, netting 14 in the next eight games. The Turin Derby record in Serie A is now of 64 Juve wins, 41 draws and 36 Granata triumphs.
Antonio Di Natale breaks into the all-time Serie A top 10 with his 184th goal, on a par with Gabriel Batistuta. The Udinese captain has scored in three of his last four appearances.
Luca Toni went up to 122 Serie A goals (matching Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s tally) and found the net for the fourth game running. He last managed that streak precisely seven years ago – in February 2007.
Parma extend their club record 13-round Serie A unbeaten streak, including six victories, but their clean sheet was ended after 385 minutes of football. Antonio Cassano has put nine of his 103 Serie A goals past Fiorentina, who are his favourite targets. Amauri went up to 81 top flight strikes, five of them this season.
The Viola haven’t won at the Tardini since a 2-1 result in 2008, sharing the spoils in their next five visits. Mati Fernandez scored his third goal of the season, the fourth in Serie A overall, while Juan Cuadrado found the net for the second week running.
Parma-Fiorentina is the second game in a row to involve three red cards after Cagliari-Livorno in Week 24.
With 51 points after 25 rounds, Napoli have exactly the same tally as this stage last season and in 1986-87 (calculating three points for a win). The club only did better in 1989-90 (53 points) and 1987-88 (56). On 50 goals after 25 games, the Partenopei are also just one shy of the club record set in 1957-58. Their clean sheet was terminated after 435 minutes of football in all competition.
This isn’t the first time Emanuele Calaiò has scored against his parent club, as he also netted for Siena against Napoli in 2012. Gian Piero Gasperini has never lost to Napoli on the Genoa bench, earning five wins and four stalemates. The Grifone’s last Serie A victory at the San Paolo was 1-0 in 2009, followed by two draws and three losses.
Milan hadn’t beaten Sampdoria in Genoa since a 5-0 rout in 2007, managing only two draws from four League visits. Clarence Seedorf has won two of his three away games on the Rossoneri bench, losing only at Napoli. Adel Taarabt and Adil Rami both took their Serie A tallies to two. These January signings are responsible for four of the Rossoneri’s last five League goals. For the first time this season Milan managed two consecutive Serie A clean sheets.
Sinisa Mihajlovic suffered his first Marassi defeat as Sampdoria Coach after four wins and three draws. In all competition, Samp had also scored in each of their previous 10 home games for a total 19 goals. The Blucerchiati have received seven red cards this season, more than any other club.
Roma are unbeaten away to Bologna since a 3-1 result in 2004, followed by four wins and two stalemates. However, they hadn’t done the ‘double’ over this club in a single campaign since 2009-10, having crushed them 5-0 earlier this season. Radja Nainggolan celebrated his first goal in a Roma jersey, but his third past favourite victims Bologna, as he also broke his duck against them in 2010.
The Giallorossi have conceded only one goal in the last six Serie A outings and now boast 16 clean sheets, more than any other club in the top five European Leagues this season. With 11 in 24 rounds (their tie with Parma was rained off), it’s the third best defensive record in top flight history. Only Milan with eight in 1993-94 and Juventus with 10 conceded in 1985-86 have done better.
With 21 points after 25 rounds, it’s Bologna’s worst Serie A campaign since 1990-91, when they had 18 at this stage and were eventually relegated. The Rossoblu have just one victory and three draws in eight games.
Inter are now the only team who haven’t received a spot-kick this season. There have been five penalties awarded against them.
Cagliari haven’t won away to Inter since a 2-1 result in 1995, scraping four draws and 10 losses. The Nerazzurri failed to notch up a third straight win and saw their San Siro clean sheet ended after five hours of football. However, the Sardinians got their first away goal in over eight hours of football. Rolando marked his third goal of the season. Mauricio Pinilla is a self-avowed Inter fan, but with five goals they are also his favourite targets alongside Cesena.
Stefan Radu had only ever scored one goal in 141 Serie A games, in a 2-0 win over Pescara on February 25 2013, but doubled that tally almost exactly a year later with his debut brace on February 23 2014.
Sergio Floccari hadn’t found the net in the top flight since Lazio beat Sampdoria 2-0 on May 12 2013, which was also at the Stadio Olimpico. Sassuolo have conceded 12 goals fired from outside the penalty area, more than any other club this season.
Verona earned a third consecutive victory in Livorno, having won here 2-0 in their last two Serie B visits. For the first time this term, Hellas notch up two away wins on the bounce. Leandro Greco had never scored in Serie A before this season, but now has four to his name.
Chievo ended their winless streak of three draws and seven defeats in all competition since beating Sassuolo 1-0 on December 8. Luca Rigoni’s third goal of the season set a new personal best, he now has nine overall in the top flight. Catania have never won away to Chievo, managing only three points from seven attempts. The Elefantini had been unbeaten in four rounds, three of which were stalemates.
Udinese extended their unbeaten run to four rounds, including two victories. Atalanta have won only once in their last six visits to the Stadio Friuli, that 3-1 in 2009 joining two draws and three defeats. Davide Brivio set a new personal best with his third goal of the season, five overall in Serie A.
