Alberto Cavasin hopes the Sampdoria fans will “push us onwards” in today's relegation scrap with Lecce.
The Blucerchiati finished fourth last season, but have plummeted down the standings so this becomes a crucial match for their Serie A future.
“Lecce are a side in good shape, but during the week I saw my lads looking strong too,” said the Coach.
Sampdoria have lost nine of their last 13 games, winning only one, and failed to score in five of their last six.
“We have to break our drought, as we haven't scored in a long time, but sooner or later it will happen.
“We're playing on home turf and I can already picture our fans pushing us onwards from the stands. It is something that gives a side great strength and playing at home increases our chances of victory.”
Stefano Lucchini has been ruled out of the match after picking up a thigh strain, so Gilberto Martinez steps in to the defence.
The only other absentee is Franco Semioli, so Nicola Pozzi should partner Massimo Maccarone, leaving Federico Macheda on the bench yet again.
