Milan legend Franco Baresi has compared outgoing Barcelona centre-back Carles Puyol to Paolo Maldini.
Puyol will leave Camp Nou in the summer and the former Rossonero admires the fact that both players remained one-club men.
“Puyol has been one of the greatest,” Baresi said to La Xarxa. “He has been an example to everyone and a great captain of a great team, with whom he has won everything.
“Puyol is one of the last legends still playing football today.
“It’s more and more difficult to see players staying at one club for so long, like Puyol and Xavi have done at Barcelona and Paolo Maldini did at Milan.
“Carles has played at the highest level for so many years and he will be part of the list of the greatest ever defenders to have played the game.”
