Former Lazio player Demetrio Albertini has come out in defence of beleaguered Biancoceleste President Claudio Lotito.
Lotito has been the subject of fierce protests and match boycotts by the club’s fans but the 42-year-old thinks supporters should remember who saved the club in the past.
“I don’t know the reasons in detail behind the Lazio fans’ protests,” Albertini told Il Tempo.
“I know the affection of the Lazio fans well but Lotito saved the club and has but their bank balance in order through solid management.
“The fans and the club must come back together if they want to continue to do well.
“I don’t know how Lazio can emerge from this situation, I appreciate the work Edy Reja has done.
“He is a footballing man and he knows that the problem can affect the players.
“In difficult moments the fans are vital. A team suffers without fans and I admire Reja for what he has done.
“Europa League? If Milan are thinking about it, Lazio can do it too.
“There is no favourite for Sunday.”
