Milan assistant manager Mauro Tassotti confirmed Mario Balotelli is on the bench only because of Clarence Seedorf’s decision.
The striker is dropped for tonight’s game with Lazio in favour of Giampaolo Pazzini, while Keisuke Honda is preferred to Adel Taarabt. Click here for the line-ups.
“It was a decision made during the week,” Tassotti told Sky Sport Italia.
“The Coach watches the training sessions and decides who to put into the starting XI. He chose Pazzini.
“Cristian Zapata is also out because of the decision of the Coach. He returned from a lengthy injury, is working with us and will soon be on the field.”
There were reported crisis talks this week with claims Tassotti has been put on stand-by to take over as Caretaker Coach for the rest of the season if this run of four consecutive defeats continues.
“It’s not true, I am not on stand-by. It has been an odd week, but we worked well and hope to emerge with a positive result.”
