Sinisa Mihajlovic prepares for the big game against Juventus and warns Adrian Mutu he “must be an ingredient of the Fiorentina cake, not a cherry on top.”
Sunday's clash is one of the top fixtures in the Florence calendar, as they have a very strong rivalry with the Turin giants.
“We'll beat Juve, so that way they'll get off our case,” declared Mihajlovic. “I'm not referring to the fans, but maybe the media and also our own demons, as we never manage to defeat the big clubs.
“Our timing hasn't helped either, as we kept meeting Inter and Roma when they were in great shape. This is a difficult game, but we will play on the attack.
“There are similarities with Juventus, as they too should've been in the top places, but their season was affected by injuries.
“We all know what this game means,” continued Mihajlovic. “It's not provincial to focus so much on one rivalry, as it's a similar atmosphere to the Rome derby.”
Mutu returns to the side after his ban against Milan and the Coach had a word of warning.
“I do not ask Mutu to win games all by himself, I just want him to work hard and play the way he knows how. In football you win and lose with XI men.
“Just as Delio Rossi told Javier Pastore at Palermo, this is what I say to Mutu: You must be an ingredient in the Fiorentina cake and not just the cherry on top.”
With Mario Alberto Santana injured, either Alessio Cerci or Adem Ljajic will start with Mutu and Alberto Gilardino.
“We could've done without that setback, but the team will give their all. I think Cerci is going to play, but not as a trequartista.”
