Mehdi Benatia says that Roma are determined to back their Coach against Antonio Conte and demonstrate to Juventus they aren’t provincial.
Rudi Garcia recently called for opponents in the closing weeks of the season to up their game against Juve, which say Conte hit out and label the Frenchman ‘provincial’.
For one of Garcia’s playing staff, the remark only has the Giallorossi fired up for this season and next.
“The Coach only gave his opinion, when he thinks something and says it, I do not think there is anything wrong with that,” Benatia has defended this week on Sky Sport Italia.
“We will demonstrate the opposite to what Conte said, we are not a provincial team and soon we will see.
“We have had a great season, but there is a little regret because I am convinced that between ourselves and Juve there should not be eight points.
“We will try to prove this, particularly next year.
“Have we deserved the Scudetto? Definitely yes, you cannot say that a team that goes past 90 points has not deserved the title.
“Juventus are a great team, but after our first 10 wins it seemed that we had to lose by force. Without controversy I remember the games against Torino and Atalanta where there were episodes that went against us.”
