Lecce attacker Daniele Corvia thinks his side need just five more points from their remaining five games to steer clear of relegation this season.
Sunday's 3-3 draw with Cagliari, in which Corvia scored a 94th minute equaliser, extended Lecce's unbeaten run to three matches.
Lecce have a three-point cushion on the drop zone and travel to Genoa on Saturday in an effort to put more distance between them and their fellow strugglers.
"Now a final effort awaits us," Corvia said. "There are five tough games still to play but I believe we have the potential to definitely get five points.
"In fact the threat of relegation has stretched to more teams and I believe that 40 points is enough to obtain survival in Serie A.
"It will be tough, especially in the two home games against Napoli and Lazio on the final day of the season, but we have shown that we can do well against the big clubs at hime because we are not forced to make the game."
