Manchester United and Manchester City are ramping up their attempts to poach Mehdi Benatia from Roma.
Italian media have long linked the two Premier League clubs with the centre-back, but according to The Sun that interest is intensifying.
Benatia only joined Roma last summer from Udinese for €13.5m (£11.8m), turning down offers from other clubs who were in the Champions League.
He has excelled in the Giallorossi back four, which has the strongest defensive record in Italy, conceding only 19 goals in 35 Serie A games.
He also scored an impressive five goals in 30 League appearances this term.
Moroccan international Benatia grew up in France and turned 27 last month.
