Napoli’s Giandomenico Mesto was thrilled by his side’s performance yesterday as they swept aside Sampdoria 5-2.
The 32-year-old, out for six months of the season with knee ligament damage, played the full 90 minutes of the encounter in Genoa.
The midfielder, speaking to the Azzurri’s official website, is pleased that Rafa Benitez’s team recorded a tenth away victory of the season and now wants to see them score their 100th goal of the season.
“I’m thrilled with my performance and how the match went overall,” Mesto said. “I am at the boss’ disposal and I would like to thank him for the faith he has shown in me.
“My teammates have helped me a lot too and there is great competition for places.
“We really wanted to get our tenth victory away from home and now our aim is to score 100 goals by the end of the season.
“It would be a wonderful way to crown the season and we want to end this year with the best result possible.
“We are a strong team now and we have begun a new project. We have managed to win the Coppa Italia and qualify for the Champions League.
“Our development has been huge and we still want to grow more.”
