Manchester City have tabled a bid of €38m for Roma defender Mehdi Benatia, according to reports.
Journalist Tancredi Palmeri revealed via his official Twitter account this afternoon that the Premier League champions have made an offer for the Giallorossi centre-back.
The former Udinese man has been the subject of consistent speculation regarding his future in recent weeks.
Barcelona had been at the head of the queue to sign Benatia, but Palmeri has insisted that Manuel Pellegrini’s men have made a formal approach this morning.
Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini stated last week that any team wanting to sign the Morocco international would have to pay €61m.
