Inter have today officially presented their new home shirt for the 2014-15 season, revealing a break from tradition.
On from yesterday launching the club’s rebranding with a redesigned logo,  the Nerazzurri have now unveiled their new shirt design, put together with Nike.
The presentation confirms leaked images from the past few weeks, that the club has broken from the traditional black and blue stripes of usually even width, to run instead with a predominantly black shirt detailed with blue pinstripes.
Including a black collar and ends to the sleeves, the new home shirt design has a much darker look than previous editions.
Player name and numbering will be in blue next season, as opposed to recent years being white.
“Inter will sport a radical new look for the 2014-15 season as for the first time in their history they swap their traditional stripes for a stylish and elegant new pinstripe design,” reads Inter’s statement on the redesign.
“Inspired by the elegant fashion houses of Milan, and the youthful style of the city, Inter are proud to be individual, and now have a unique kit for a unique club.
“The new home shirt is black with a thin blue pinstripe and also boasts a new enlarged and enriched club crest.
“The club crest – in the version with the stare on the top – will be used exclusively on the jersey.
“The shirt has a tailored black Milan collar with a thin blue trim, which has a button at the top, and a placket with a hidden button.
“Inside the back of the neck is a pennat tab featuring the St George’s cross to represent the city of Milan’s coat of arms.
“On the back of the neck is ‘Inter’ in a specially design font, which has been used by the Nerrazzurri’s most committed fans on flags and banner inside the San Siro since the 1970s.
“The new home shorts are black with a thin blue stripe along each side, and the new home socks are black with a wide tonal stripe of chevrons on the back.
“While this new kit features Nike’s signature design details, it also offers players the very latest in performance innovation, kit technology and environmental sustainability.”
Meanwhile, the club also followed up yesterday’s initial rebranding announcement with a more detailed look at the changes made to the badge.
“One voice for a special team. FC Internazionale now has a new look,” read Inter’s second statement released during yesterday.
“The logo has changed and is joined by a new corporate identity. It will be seen everywhere: from the website to the first team. From the youth academy to the team bus. A new logo, as we were saying, but also an exclusive font, with official lettering, new packaging for all our products, as well as an innovative online style guide featuring collections designed for Interisti from all over the world.
“The whole project bears the mark of Leftloft, the design studio that has been in charge of the team's image since 2010.
“Here are details of the new features:
“- The logo has been redesigned and is still inspired by the 1908 logo which has come back into use over the last few years.
“- The crest has been modernised from every perspective: the lines have been simplified, there are fewer circles now surrounding it and the dimensions have been balanced for enhanced recognition.
“- The star has gone back to representing the number of league titles won and is only mandatory on the shirt.
“- The gate-like font bearing the team's name has been removed.
“- Over 1,000 products have gone to market with a new packaging devised for all types of product.
“One voice for a special team. And from today, even better than ever.”
