Porto have left Rolando out of pre-season training, but Roma are battling Inter for his signature.
The defender spent last term on loan at San Siro and the Nerazzurri are eager to make the move permanent.
They were given a boost this evening with news Rolando is not in the Porto squad leaving for pre-season training in the Netherlands.
However, according to Portuguese paper O Jogo, Roma are ready to throw a spanner in the works with their own offer for the centre-back.
Porto have set an €8m price-tag on Rolando, who is also of interest to Besiktas in Turkey.
