Milan stopper Alessandro Nesta has praised defensive teammates Thiago Silva and Ignazio Abate.
In an interview with Milan Channel, the veteran became the second Milanista in a week, after Gianluca Zambrotta, to applaud rising star Abate.
"He's a good lad who always applies himself," he said of the former midfielder who is now playing regularly at right-back.
"He was used to another role, but by working seriously he has demonstrated himself to be an excellent full-back who could go on and play for Italy.
"He's always smiling too and feels at home in the dressing room."
While Abate has developed, Thiago Silva has confirmed himself to be one of the best centre-backs in Europe.
"Milan have some solid foundations for the future," added Nesta. "Thiago Silva, for example, can be a guarantee for the defence for the next 10 years."
The Brazilian stopper, who plays alongside Nesta, has also been hailed by boss Massimiliano Allegri over the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Nesta's future at San Siro is still in doubt given that his contract expires next month. Milan will make a decision on whether to offer him a new deal at the end of term.
