Juventus President Andrea Agnelli insists it was "simple" to agree new terms with Alessandro Del Piero.
The captain, whose previous deal was set to expire next month, yesterday committed himself to a new contract until June 2012.
"It has been simple," Agnelli noted. "We met in January with the promise to speak again at the end of the season.
"Alessandro told me that he wants to continue to be the captain of Juventus and wishes to win another Scudetto in the new stadium.
"These words made me happy, today's signature is just a physical action. Del Piero can still give a lot on the pitch and send a message of the club's values to his teammates.
"He will also help us a lot next season, which for us will be one of redemption."
The Italian legend has been with the club since his 1993 switch from Serie B side Padova and is now ranked as one of the greats of all time.
"This signature has an important meaning," continued Agnelli. "Alessandro and I have known each other for a long time, we've practically grown up together.
"I still remember his first hat-trick against Parma, where he showed charisma by thanking his teammate for the assist.
"In these years he's gone through injury and revival, he encapsulates the true Juve spirit and will take it into the new stadium.
"I'm proud that the contract has been signed here, we've been the first in Italy to have our very own structure, open seven days a week and which, on Sundays, will be our 12th man."
To add to the significance of the agreement, Del Piero actually signed the contract at the club's new arena which will be ready for the next campaign.
