Inter captain Javier Zanetti admits “Milan deserve the Scudetto, as our season has been somewhat troubled.”
The Rossoneri will secure the title on Saturday night as long as they avoid defeat to Roma.
“It's only right, as Milan deserve the Scudetto,” said Zanetti during a charity event in Palermo.
“Inter's season has been somewhat troubled, as at the start we had numerous difficulties and injuries.”
Rafa Benitez parted company with the club on Christmas Eve to make way for Leonardo, but a comeback in the second half of the campaign was not enough.
“We have rediscovered the unity of the squad. Now the important thing is to end the season as best we can, hopefully achieving second place in Serie A and winning the Coppa Italia.”
Inter beat Roma 1-0 in the first leg of the semi-final and play the decider at San Siro on Wednesday evening.
Zanetti also commented on his fellow countrymen, including a face familiar to Serie A.
“Javier Pastore will certainly be one of the top stars in world football over the next few years. Pastore and Erik Lamela are the most important future prospects in Argentine football.”
