The Second Round of the Coppa Italia had more surprises, including the unusual sight of two red cards during a shoot-out.
There was a truly bizarre sight during Modena-Monza, which ended 0-0 after 120 minutes and had to be decided in a shoot-out.
Monza player Beduschi converted his spot-kick and made a vulgar gesture towards the crowd, which prompted the referee to send him off.
As if that weren’t enough, during the same penalties Monza goalkeeper Viotti saw red for kicking the ball away.
Massoni therefore failed to convert his kick and then immediately went into the goal to save Gatto’s effort, but Modena eventually won 3-2 to qualify.
Cittadella and Spezia squeezed past Lega Pro opponents, while Virtus Entella saw off Benevento in another shoot-out.
