Udinese need only a point to reach the Champions League, but Francesco Guidolin isn't celebrating yet. “We're so close to the dream.”
The Friulani can secure fourth place with a draw against Scudetto winners Milan, but can even lose if Lazio fail to beat Lecce at the Stadio Via del Mare.
“We've been saying for a few weeks now that our season would be decided with a photo-finish and that will be the case,” declared the Coach.
“Tomorrow we are facing a very tough opponent that deservedly won the title and can hurt us at any time.
“I do not see that Udinese have an advantage over Lazio. We trust in our own form and our style of play that has always taken the initiative in every game. It's normal that tension is growing, especially within me, but we mustn't let ourselves get distracted.
“We're so close to the dream and, even if it will be difficult, we want to make it come true. It's now or never.”
Lazio have hinted that the situation is already decided, implying that Milan won't put up much of a fight in the final round of the season.
“If I were them, I'd shut up and focus on my own game,” replied Guidolin. “I'd look at what was under my control and decide on what can make the difference. The rest is pointless. We've heard so much talk and I just want to think about my lads, telling them we need the perfect game against Milan.”
The Stadio Friuli is sold out for Sunday night's clash and ready to spark a celebration.
“It's wonderful and the excitement of the fans is contagious. The rapport created between the team and its supporters is unique. We want to give them something historic and marvellous.”
Alexis Sanchez is in the squad despite a recurring ankle problem, so the only absentees are the injured Damiano Ferronetti, Dusan Basta and Andrea Coda.
Udinese squad: Belardi, Handanovic, Koprivec; Angella, Armero, Benatia, Cuadrado, Domizzi, Ekstrand, Pasquale, Zapata; Abdi, Asamoah, Badu, Inler, Isla, Pinzi; Beleck, Corradi, Denis, Di Natale, Sanchez, Vydra
