Lazio are at the front of the grid in the race to sign Mirsolav Klose from Bayern Munich, according to reports.
The German international is expected to leave Bayern on a free and the Eternal City outfit are very keen.
Lazio are desperate for a new centre-forward and Klose is one of the names associated with them.
Reports on Monday are suggesting that talks have already taken place between the two parties.
The Biancocelesti, who just missed out on qualification for the Champions League, have allegedly offered him a two-year contract worth €1.8m a season.
Lazio boss Edy Reja was asked last week if he dreamt of having Fiorentina's Alberto Gilardino, Klose or Maxi Lopez of Catania at his disposal next season.
"Players of a certain quality are always welcome and I hope one of these three does arrive," stated the former Napoli boss.
