Stefano Mauri is considering a Lazio exit amid interest from Russian giants Zenit St Petersburg.
"It's a decision that only Mauri can take," the player's agent, Tiziano Gonzaga, told Radio Mana Mana.
"You have to respect the player's thoughts, a player who despite always doing well for Lazio is always criticised by the fans."
The midfielder, who has returned to Italy contention, has an admirer in the form of Zenit boss Luciano Spalletti.
"There was an offer from Zenit and that would be an accepted destination for the player because they are a great team," the representative added.
"However, we firstly need to have a meeting with Lazio because having the backing of the club is important for Mauri and could be decisive in what decision he takes.
"Playing under such pressure is not easy and the player has told me that he doesn't feel like continuing in this situation."
