Luciano Spalletti insists he is not leaving Zenit St Petersburg. “I am in Florence for other reasons, not for talks with Fiorentina.”
The former Roma Coach was spotted in Italy this week, fuelling reports he is set to replace Sinisa Mihajlovic at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
“I am in Florence for other reasons linked with a publicity tour and not for talks with Fiorentina,” he insisted.
“I am happy at Zenit and will not be leaving Russia. As for Fiorentina, Mihajlovic is a good Coach and I take this opportunity to urge everyone to leave him to get on with his work.
“After all, he has had to face quite a few problems this season.”
Spalletti has also been linked with a return to Roma now that the Sensi family has handed ownership over to Thomas Di Benedetto.
There are other reports suggesting that Zenit would like to make a bid for Inter midfielder Thiago Motta.
“He is in the interests of the club, but it would be premature to say he will sign for us, as Thiago Motta still has a contract and Inter will only release him for a consistent sum,” a Zenit source was quoted as saying in Tvoi Dien.
