Inter President Massimo Moratti is convinced that Gian Piero Gasperini will succeed at San Siro.
Gasperini was officially appointed as the new Coach on Friday given Leonardo's decision to accept a sporting director role at Paris Saint-Germain.
"He was hired because he knows how to do his job," Moratti told the Corriere dello Sport on Monday. "He's not a fall-back choice, he's an excellent Coach.
"I spoke with him in the week and he left me with an excellent impression of himself. I found him calm and not at all afraid.
"He explained to me what he had in mind and I instantly understood that he knows about football," the chief added.
"I've come across him when we played Genoa in the past. I was impressed because games against his Genoa were never easy – far from it…
"Gasperini has experience and you can see that by how his team's line-up. He works well in the week and all his players know what they have to do during games.
"He seems well up for the challenge, he's enthusiastic and desperate to start this new adventure.
"I'm certain that he will fit well into the structure we have here and that the players will welcome him as they should."
Inter only moved for Gasperini after their approaches for Marcelo Bielsa, Fabio Capello and Sinisa Mihajlovic failed.
They also spoke to Andre Villas Boas, but they refused to pay his €15m release clause at Porto – an obstacle that didn't put off Chelsea.
