Zenit St Petersburg tactician Luciano Spalletti insists he was not a contender to replace Leonardo on the Inter bench.
The former Roma boss was discussed as a possible target for the Nerazzurri after Leonardo made it clear that he wanted to take up a sporting director role at Paris SG.
Gian Piero Gasperini was eventually handed the hot seat, but only after Inter supposedly failed in bids for Marcelo Bielsa, Andre Villas Boas, Sinisa Mihajlovic, Fabio Capello and Spalletti.
"Inter never contacted me," the ex-Empoli, Sampdoria and Udinese Coach underlined to reporters.
The 52-year-old former player joined Zenit in December 2009, just three months after he handed in his resignation at Roma.
He's won the Russian League, the Russian Cup and the Russian Super Cup during his time at Zenit so far.
