Roma have officially parted company with director Gian Paolo Montali, paving the way for the new American owners.
A statement on the official club website this evening confirmed they had terminated their contract by mutual consent.
“AS Roma thank the director, who took a role of great responsibility and came close to winning the 2009-10 Scudetto.
“He also ensured stability and balanced leadership during a particularly delicate moment like the change of ownership.”
Montali was a European Championship-winning Coach of Italy's volleyball team before branching out as a director in football.
He started at Juventus from 2005 to 2009, then joined Roma in October 2009 as co-ordinator of human resources.
When American investor Thomas Di Benedetto completed the takeover of the club in February, he was appointed as operative director.
“I wish the new owners and directors the best success, salute the extraordinary fans, players and everyone who shared this experience with me,” wrote Montali.
“I also thank Rosella Sensi for the faith she put in me and the chance to work in the most stimulating area of Italian sport.”
