Bologna Coach Pierpaolo Bisoli presented the team to fans and assured, even without new buys, “this side can already stay in Serie A.”
The club was beset by financial problems and continual changes of management last season, which saw a three-point penalty, but still managed to avoid relegation.
“This Bologna side can already stay in Serie A. If I wasn't convinced of that, then I would not have accepted this job,” explained the new tactician.
“I believe in these players and am certain we will entertain the fans.”
President Albano Guaraldi also commented on developments at the cash-strapped club.
“If we look at the other teams on our level, then they haven't really made many changes either. We've got an extra weapon: Bisoli.
“If there are new signings, then they will be top choices. My objective is to ensure I can get to November and still pay their wages, though, as the most important thing is to safeguard the club.
“Don't forget we had a €23m debt and are slowly paying it back.”
Money could be raised by selling Gaston Ramirez, who has complained he is held “prisoner” at Bologna.
“He has to decide what he wants to do when he grows up,” snapped Coach Bisoli.
“I will welcome him with open arms, but he has to prove what he's worth.”
