Alberto Aquilani is reportedly ready to accept a pay cut in order to complete a move from Liverpool to Fiorentina.
The Viola have been linked with the Italian in recent days, but his €3.6m a year salary was always going to be a problem.
However, according to local reports in Florence, the midfielder will make a financial sacrifice in order to return to Italy.
Aquilani is back at Anfield after Juventus opted against taking up their option to sign him outright after last season's loan in Turin.
Fiorentina's top wage earners are currently Alberto Gilardino and Sebastien Frey. Both net €2m a season after tax.
If the former Roma player does accept a cut in salary then the Viola could make Liverpool an offer of up to €12m.
