Gennaro Gattuso is convinced Milan should bring back Ricky Kaka. “He’d be reborn here! Leonardo treated me like a child.”
The midfielder believes mysterious transfer target Mister X will prove to be a very familiar face.
“I’d like Kaka to be the man, as he’d be reborn here! He has technique, power and stamina. His fitness records still stand here at Milanello,” he told the Corriere dello Sport.
“Jose Mourinho doesn’t want him at Real Madrid anymore, so in my view he could work out an agreement with Milan over his wages.”
There are reports in Spain today that Kaka is ready to leave Madrid after a spell of injuries, though he has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain.
Leonardo is now the director general at PSG, but famously had a bust-up with Gattuso while he was Coach of Milan.
“I would’ve preferred if Leonardo had just told me he wasn’t going to consider my contribution. Instead he treated me like a child from the youth academy.
“Milan gave me a great deal, but I too have given much to this club. I turned down offers to leave because money isn’t everything in life. Milanello is my home.”
Some veterans have walked away, as Andrea Pirlo opted to join Juventus after 10 years at San Siro.
“Pirlo’s absence will be felt, as Andrea is a fantastic player. You just can’t find players of his quality nowadays.
“Cesc Fabregas? He could be a good potential signing, thanks to his quality and experience. If Milan had waited until now to announce Philippe Mexes and Taye Taiwo, then people would be saying what a great transfer campaign Milan have had.”
