Bojan Krkic held his first Roma Press conference today and insists “I’m not ‘parked’ here waiting for Barcelona. I’m focused on the Giallorossi.”
The striker completed an unusual €12m transfer this week, as Barça will buy him back for €13m in 2013 unless Roma pay an extra €28m.
“It’s not true that I wanted that clause, nor am I ‘parked’ here waiting for Barcelona,” pointed out the 20-year-old.
“Please, out of respect for the Roma fans, I’d like us not to talk about this any more. I can’t say if I’ll stay for many years or return to Barcelona, but I just want to focus on the Giallorossi.
“I am very happy to have joined such a great club as Roma. Clearly the fact Luis Enrique is here influenced my decision, as he respects me both as a player and a man.”
Bojan has been presented with the Number 14 jersey for this season and explained his choice.
“This was the number worn by my great friend Thierry Henry and the champion of the past Johann Crujff.
“The Roma project is an exciting one and I think we have the right mix of youth and experience to make the fans very happy. Pressure does not weigh on my shoulders. I welcome it.”
The Spain international was headed for greatness from a very young age, but seemed to fall by the wayside at the Nou Camp recently.
“It’s true that I had a very strong start to my career, whereas in the last year I’ve barely played. I have rediscovered that motivation and joy in playing football with a team full of great champions. I love the idea of playing alongside Francesco Totti.”
