Maarten Stekelenburg has openly asked Roma to raise their offer to Ajax. “The ball is in their court...”
The goalkeeper is in negotiations for a transfer, but Ajax declared they will reject a €5m proposal.
“I have never been so close to wearing the jersey of another club,” Stekelenburg told Sky Sport Italia.
“I am very tied to Ajax and I must say it is very strange at the moment to be training with my teammates, but at the same time thinking I could leave the squad.
“What are my chances of playing for Roma? The ball is in their court...”
It's believed the Dutch club has set a price-tag of €8-9m for the shot-stopper, who will be out of contract in June 2012.
