Antonio Conte insists “it's the mentality more than the tactics” that count when Juventus take on Sporting Lisbon in Toronto.
The Bianconeri start their tour of North America with a friendly test on Sunday at the BMO Field.
“We are in the midst of pre-season training and are coming off 12 days of both physical and tactical work. Our legs are heavy, but we'll try to put some of that progress on the field,” said the Coach.
Famed for his very attacking approach to the 4-4-2, which has been nicknamed a 4-2-4, Conte is adamant there is too much talk about the system.
“It's the mentality more than the tactics that makes the difference. It is basically a 4-4-2, but whether the wingers play a little more advanced or a little further back changes nothing. It's all in the interpretation.”
Juventus completed the signing of Arturo Vidal from Bayer Leverkusen yesterday and sent Felipe Melo to Galatasaray on loan.
“Vidal is a complete midfielder who is very dynamic and combines a work ethic with quality. He scored 10 goals in the Bundesliga and is coming to give us a precious helping hand.
“It's only normal that at this stage of the season we are looking for reinforcements, so I speak to the club daily about the transfer market and how situations are evolving. We'll see how things develop.”
Straight after Sunday's match, Juventus will return to their primary training camp in Philadelphia.
