Davide Ballardini was angry at the refereeing, but praised an injury-ravaged Lazio’s performance against Juventus.
Stefano Mauri thought he had given them the lead on the stroke of half-time in a chaotic move, but the whistle had already blown for a soft Julio Cruz challenge on Nicola Legrottaglie.
“This can’t happen, yet it did. There was absolutely nothing there. It’s disappointing,” moaned the Coach after a 2-0 defeat.
“I think Juventus don’t like passing the ball around, they prefer strength and quality. In order to get near the goal we have to move it quickly and give our players the time and space to attack.
“[Roberto] Baronio has wonderful vision and [Aleksandr] Kolarov will become one of the best full-backs in the world.
“The most important thing is that Lazio played a great game and the result does not reflect what was seen on the pitch.
“Up until now we have picked up points through our performances and that is the road we need to continue on. We’re happy with the football, less so with the result.”
The Biancocelesti did well to trouble Juventus considering they were missing both strikers, as Mauro Zarate joined Tommaso Rocchi in the stands.
At first the Argentine was included in the squad, but medical staff ruled against using him in this game after a thigh twinge.
“It’s true Zarate wanted to play at all costs, but there were too many risks and we didn’t want to lose him for longer.”
