Prandelli’s game of the season
Monday 28 September, 2009

Cesare Prandelli is relishing the opportunity to face Liverpool in the Champions League on Tuesday and believes this game could be a turning point.

The Viola cannot afford to lose this match following their loss in France against Lyon on Matchday 1.

“This game could be a turning point for us because it comes at a critical time. A good score could boost our confidence,” noted Prandelli.

“We know that we can achieve important results with our will, enthusiasm and unity. This match could be fundamental for our campaign.

“Liverpool’s squad is amazing and what surprises me the most is the way they play. They have talent and creativity but they work an awful lot too. We studied them in the last few games but obviously they are incredibly strong.

“In order to stop Fernando Torres we need to be tactically tidy and be very careful. Our concentration must be always high during the 90 minutes.

“Florence will help us so we will have a twelfth man. The fans are extraordinary at the Franchi. I am sure we will do well.”

Prandelli was also reminded about the Heysel tragedy, a match in which he came on as a late substitute for Juventus against Liverpool.

“That name reminds me of memories which have nothing to do with football. This game against Liverpool doesn’t have anything related to that Final, even though I will never forget it.”
