Ambrosini pens new Milan deal
Tuesday 8 September, 2009

Milan have officially extended captain Massimo Ambrosini’s contract until June 2011.

The midfielder inherited the armband when Paolo Maldini retired in the summer and has tied his future to the side.

The official Milan website announced he had put pen to paper on a new contract holding him to San Siro until June 30, 2011.

It is only a one-year extension, as the Rossoneri are trying to cut costs and make these offers as standard practice.

The 32-year-old first joined Milan in 1995-96 and has spent his entire career here since, with the exception of a brief season-long loan spell at Vicenza in 1997-98.

With the club he has won three Scudetti, two Champions League trophies, two European Super Cups, the Club World Cup, Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup.
