Milan sold ‘Zidane’, says Ribery
Wednesday 9 September, 2009

Not only did Milan sell Kaka in the summer, Franck Ribery insists they also lost a Frenchman with the qualities of Zinedine Zidane.

The Rossoneri released their Brazilian superstar to Real Madrid for £56m, but they also let go of Yoann Gourcuff.

The latter was signed by Bordeaux after they took up the option to net him outright for £13m after his stunning 2008-09 Ligue 1 campaign on loan with the French outfit.

Now a regular at international level for Les Bleus, Ribery has been impressed with the attacking midfielder’s progress.

“When I play with Gourcuff in the national side, I feel the same sensations as I did when I featured alongside Zidane,” the Bayern Munich player told France Football.

Milan signed Gourcuff in 2006 after he spent three seasons with Rennes. However, he struggled with competition at San Siro and was allowed to leave.
