Huntelaar wants Livorno chance
Wednesday 9 September, 2009

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has called for Milan boss Leonardo to start him in this weekend’s game at Livorno.

The Rossoneri’s big summer signing was suspended for the Week 1 win at Siena and was only used in the derby as a substitute, with Inter already in a commanding position before the game ended 4-0.

Huntelaar, however, is now pleading for a chance from the kick-off after his promising career at Ajax stalled following a frustrating switch to Real Madrid.

“It is clear that I have no guarantees, but on my return to Italy I hope to be fielded from the start with more regularity,” said the Dutchman who is currently on international duty.

“I was banned for the first game, then [boss] Leonardo opted to keep faith with the same side against Inter that won in Week 1.

“However, the time has now arrived to change and I am certain that I will finally be given my opportunities.”

The former Under-21 international added: “I just want to be given the chance to do what I was signed to do – play football.”

Huntelaar is in competition with Italian striker Marco Borriello for a place in the starting XI as the Rossoneri look for a positive reaction after their demolition derby.
