It had been speculated that the deal was being held up by the fact neither club wanted to pay a reported €20m to super-agent Mino Raiola for his role in brokering the transfer.

The return of the real Juventus

Juventus have resembled the walking wounded, but after recovering players from injury Luca Cetta expects the Bianconeri to start the climb up the table.

Immediate reactions weren’t encouraging. In some discomfort as he lay prone on the turf, Alvaro Morata was stretchered from the field. Initial speculation pointed to potentially a month on the sidelines.

The scenario echoed that of Claudio Marchisio last season, originally ruled out for at least six months following a knee injury picked up on Italy duty. That sparked a furore between Antonio Conte and his former employers. Fortunately for Juve, the midfielder was back in a matter of weeks.
