Pozzo: 'Patience has limits'

Udinese patron Gino Pozzo confirms Francesco Lodi’s arrival and warns “my patience has limits.”

The Friulani have lost eight of their last nine Serie A games, interrupted only by a shock 1-0 win away to Juventus.

This is also their worst ever home run of six straight defeats, matching the record set in 1961.

“I hope the second half can be a new beginning,” Pozzo told reporters after they fought back from 3-0 down to lose 3-2 against Milan.

Udinese look to Lodi

Free agent Francesco Lodi is in negotiations for a contract with Udinese to replace injured Alexander Merkel.

The former Genoa, Catania and Parma midfielder is without a club so far this season following the Ducali’s bankruptcy.

He had been in talks with Napoli, but the 31-year-old failed to agree personal terms.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Udinese called Lodi after a serious injury to midfielder Merkel.

This week Merkel tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will be out of action for around five to six months.

Napoli close to free agent Lodi

Napoli are prepared to give free agent and free kick specialist Francesco Lodi a contract.

The transfer window has now closed, but clubs are still allowed to sign players who are out of contract.

Lodi fits that bill and Radio Marte claim Napoli have approached the ex-Catania and Parma midfielder.

The Partenopei tried to sign Roberto Soriano from Sampdoria, but the paperwork was not delivered before the deadline.

It’s believed 31-year-old Lodi could fill that role at least for the next six months.

Serie A Week 31: Did You Know?

A rare Milan Derby double draw, Lazio's Juventus taboo continues and Atalanta end a nine-game losing streak at Roma in Susy Campanale's stats round-up.

The last time both Milan Derbies ended in stalemates was in 1998-99 after a pair of 2-2 results. This is the 10th campaign in which the Derby della Madonnina has been a double draw.

The San Siro showdown hadn’t ended goalless since October 24 2004. That was followed by 59 goals in the next 23 meetings between Serie A and Coppa Italia. In the entire history of the Milan Derby there have only been 13 goalless results from 171 competitive editions. However, there were only seven goals in the last six encounters.

Lodi: 'Parma will make Juve suffer'

Francesco Lodi warned Parma will “make Juventus suffer too” this weekend after stopping Inter and Udinese.

Nonetheless, they picked up four points from their last two games, holding Inter 1-1 at San Siro and beating Udinese 1-0.

Lodi fury at Parma snub

Francesco Lodi has reportedly had a furious row with Parma Coach Roberto Donadoni - ‘I haven’t taken a Euro and I don’t even play’.

The Ducali are mired at the bottom of Serie A, and players have gone unpaid all season as the club has been declared bankrupt.

Lodi has not featured for Donadoni’s side since the 0-0 draw at Roma in February, and even that was a three minute cameo.

According to ParmaLive, the playmaker stormed out of the dressing room in a fury with the former Italy CT at training today.
