Gianluca Scamacca confesses ‘playing with this Atalanta side is fantastic’ after a stunning goal to book the Coppa Italia Final against Juventus. ‘There are no favourites.’

It was a remarkable semi-final after Fiorentina won the first leg 1-0, cancelled out immediately here by Teun Koopmeiners on a Scamacca assist.

Despite going down to 10 men for a Nikola Milenkovic red card, the Viola still equalised on the night with a Lucas Martinez Quarta free header, but late on the acrobatic Scamacca volley, then Ademola Lookman and Mario Pasalic in stoppages sealed a 4-1 win.

“It was a wonderful game from us, because when situations get tough, we rarely manage to find the late goal, but tonight we believed and pushed to the end,” Scamacca told Sport Mediaset.

“I am happy to have helped the team, they put me in the best position to score these goals. Playing with this Atalanta side is fantastic.”

Atalanta will face Juventus in the Coppa Italia Final at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on May 15, but Scamacca will be suspended after picking up a yellow card this evening.

“There are no favourites in the Final, it’s a one-off match, we’ll give it our all.”

La Dea are also in the Europa League semi-final against Olympique Marseille after eliminating favourites Liverpool, so are they on track for two trophies?

“We have to keep taking it one game at a time. We must enjoy this moment, as when you start a season, you dream of still being in the fight for all your objectives in May.”
