Murillo: 'Not happy at Inter'

Valencia defender Jeison Murillo revealed why he was determined to leave Inter, but his problems in Italy began from the start at Udinese.

The Colombia international was sold over the summer and seems considerably more at ease in La Liga.

“I received the call that I had been sold and was going to Italy. From one day to the next. I remember that when I returned home, my mother was crying. I was about to tell her, but she’d already been alerted. I couldn’t believe it,” the 25-year-old told Spanish newspaper As.

Del Neri wants Azzurri unity

Luigi Del Neri wants Italy’s players, coaches and fans to unite as one for the World Cup play-off return leg with Sweden.

The Azzurri were beaten 1-0 in last night’s first leg between the sides, leaving Giampiero Ventura’s team with an uphill battle in the race to reach Russia.

“We need to win, maybe by scoring more than one goal,” Udinese boss Del Neri said looking ahead to Monday’s return at the San Siro.

“The return game will be physical. Sweden are a tough team.

Camoranesi: 'Di Natale better than Pirlo'

Mauro Camoranesi trusts Italy will beat Sweden in the World Cup play-off, but insists Antonio Di Natale was more “technically-gifted” than Andrea Pirlo.

The 2006 World Cup winner spoke to Top Calcio 24 ahead of the clashes in Stockholm on Friday evening and Milan on Monday.

“If the play-offs were a one-off game, then Italy may well have been at risk, but over 180 minutes they will certainly qualify,” said Camoranesi.

Wk12: Depth charge

Few expected Roma to be the paragons of squad rotation, but Napoli lack understudies and Milan are missing ideas, writes Susy Campanale.

Strength in depth is often cited as the key component for a successful team in modern football. With the fixture list so densely-packed, being able to rest, chop and change without losing quality is essential. Napoli having problems with this was entirely predictable, but few expected Roma to be the paragon of squad rotation virtue.

Del Neri: ‘We can’t just defend’

Luigi Del Neri concedes Udinese cannot face Lazio simply aiming to defend for 90 minutes.

The Bianconeri travel to face Simone Inzaghi’s team this afternoon, with the Rome side having won their last six Serie A matches, as well as nine of their last 10.

“We can’t face Lazio only thinking about our own half of the pitch,” Del Neri acknowledged at his pre-match Press conference. “We need to give them problems up front.

“We need to compete as equals on all fronts, first and foremost on the physical front.”
