Manolas set for derby return

Roma defender Kostas Manolas is set for a derby return from injury when the Giallorossi take on Lazio on December 4th.

After withdrawing from the squad just hours before Thursday night’s Europa League match against Viktoria Plzen, the severity of the injury was initially unclear.

The problem has now been attributed to a muscle contraction and there is no sign of any legion, meaning that the Greek centre-back has not suffered any serious damage.

Spalletti: 'Dzeko turning point'

Luciano Spalletti explained how Edin Dzeko came to give his best at Roma and why Mohamed Salah’s finishing can’t be improved in training.

Dzeko scored a hat-trick in the 4-1 win over Viktoria Plzen, which secured their status as group leaders in the Europa League.

“Despite it being a deserved victory tonight, if Alisson hadn’t saved that great chance when they were trying to make it 2-2, we might’ve been in trouble.

Perotti confession on rabona goal

Diego Perotti admits his astonishing ‘rabona’ goal for Roma against Viktoria Plzen “was meant to be a cross.”

The Argentine was trying to chip the ball up to Mohamed Salah at the back post, but it looped over the goalkeeper into the far top corner.

“The truth is that was meant to be a cross, but then the goal arrived and it was useful to help the team kill off the game,” Perotti told Sky Sport Italia after the 4-1 Europa League victory.

“Viktoria are a good side, but in the first half they only had one chance and scored with it,” Dzeko told Sky Sport Italia.

Manolas to miss Plzen

Kostas Manolas will miss Roma’s Europa League match with Viktoria Plzen with injury, reports suggest.

The Giallorossi will qualify for the next round if they avoid defeat against the Czech champions tonight at Stadio Olimpico.

However, it appears they’ll have to do so without Manolas, as Sky is reporting that he picked up a muscular injury in training.

The severity of the injury suffered by the Greek centre-back is not yet known, but he’ll certainly miss tonight’s match.
