Chiellini wants more history

Juventus’ Giorgio Chiellini wants his club to continue their domination of Italian football and to keep making history.

The Old Lady have now won five Scudetti on the spin, three under Antonio Conte and two under current Coach Max Allegri.

In an interview with JTV to be screened later on Tuesday evening, the 31-year-old insisted the Bianconeri players do not lack motivation despite tasting victory on so many occasions.

‘Juventus need more cynicism’

Giorgio Chiellini admits Juventus need to display more “cynicism” after the draw with Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Bianconeri were held to a 0-0 draw by the German side, their second goalless draw in as many matches following a stalemate with Inter.

“The positive thing is that in the last two games we haven’t had a shot on target against us, unless you count [Marcelo] Brozovic’s effort [which hit the bar],” Chellini told Sky.

Where do Italy go from here?

There’s no question the Azzurri are in transition, but Edo Dalmonte sees light at the end of the tunnel.

It’s tough to talk about La Nazionale these days. There are very few certainties, after an up-and-down qualifying campaign.

Our imaginary Azzurri building blocks are full of red flags. Italy are unbeaten in fifty qualifiers? Sure, against the likes of Bulgaria and Malta. Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci still make elementary mistakes in an Azzurri shirt. Marco Verratti still has developing to do.

Ballon D'Or, Buffon left out

FIFA's list of candidates for the Ballon D'Or 2015 includes Juventus' Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Pirlo, but omits goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.

The ceremony will take place on January 11 next year, and will reward a player from a set list of 59 candidates.

Chiellini and Pirlo are the only Italians to make the list, on the back of their strong Champions League campaign last year.

Perhaps surprisingly, Buffon was not included in the list, prompting several unhappy responses in Italy.

Chiellini: 'It's almost done'

Giorgio Chiellini said “it’s practically done” for Italy in Euro 2016 after beating Bulgaria and Malta 1-0 this week.

“We knew these two games were important. The results were minimal, but we put in the effort and deserved more,” Chiellini told Rai Sport.

“Now in Europe all matches are difficult. We made a step forwards today, put in a fine performance and must build on that so we can secure qualification as soon as possible.”

Bonucci: 'Juve stronger than setbacks'

Leonardo Bonucci said Juventus “must be stronger than these setbacks” against Lazio in the Italian Super Cup.

The Bianconeri go to Shanghai without first choice defenders Andrea Barzagli and Giorgio Chiellini due to muscular injuries.

“They are certainly a big loss, both on and off the field, but we must be stronger than these unexpected setbacks because we are Juventus and we have to win,” Bonucci told Sky Sport Italia.

Chiellini out for three weeks

As feared, Giorgio Chiellini is also out of the Italian Super Cup between Juventus and Lazio due to injury.

The defender limped off during the opening stages of their 2-1 friendly win over Lechia Gdansk on Wednesday.

Today tests confirmed a first degree lesion to his right thigh.

Juve medical staff estimate he will be out of action for around 20 days.

That means Chiellini misses the Italian Super Cup against Lazio in Shanghai on August 8.

Andrea Barzagli has already been ruled out for three weeks with a muscular problem.

Allegri: 'Juve need time'

Max Allegri warned new Juventus players “must get to know each other” and gave Sami Khedira’s debut a mixed review.

Khedira came on for the second half in a 2-1 friendly victory over Lechia Gdansk.

“There was progress in physical terms and we had some good movements. Of course there are many new players getting to know each other, so it takes time to improve the passing and movement.
